Shio are a North West based tribute band celebrating the music of Ronnie James Dio.
Formed by musicians with a shared love of classic heavy metal, Shio focus on powerful live performances and faithful interpretations of iconic songs from across Dio’s career.
Shio are a four-piece band featuring Ria (vocals), Dave (guitar), Stu (bass), and Adum (drums).
Who was Ronnie James Dio?
Ronnie James Dio was one of the most distinctive voices in heavy metal.
Across a career spanning several decades, he fronted bands including Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, and his own band Dio, helping to define the sound and imagery of classic metal.
Whether introducing epic fantasy themes with Rainbow, reinvigorating Black Sabbath in the early 1980s, or leading Dio through a run of landmark albums, his influence is still felt across the genre.
What Shio play
Shio’s set focuses primarily on the Dio catalogue, with additional material from Dio’s time with Rainbow and Dio-era Black Sabbath / Heaven & Hell.
While the emphasis is firmly on the Dio years, the set reflects the breadth of his career rather than a single band or album.
